I went to the New People building today (aka: where all the lolita stores are at here in SF). Everything was so pretty! I’ve never seen so much lolita all together! The sales girl was super nice and looked very cute! They (Baby) even had lucky packs left over :3 I, of course, found the dress I’ve been wanting for a while now, but alas, I blew all my money on the move. Ah, well. Until next time….
I’m off to college in about two weeks. I’m not sure if I’m going to take my lolita with me, so I’m not sure if this blog is going to get any frequent posts. The good news, though, is I’m moving to San Fran—home of the US locations of BTSSB and other loli brands, so look forward to those posts (…if they allow pictures inside the stores?).
Anyway, I’m rambling now…I hope you guys have a great new year!!
How did you guys spend the day?
My mum bought me these beauties as an early birthday present last week. I have wanted a pair of Rockinghorse shoes for as long as I’ve been interested in Lolita—which is going on 5 years now. I am so glad to finally own a pair!
Right out of the bag—which is of nicer quality this time—they smell. There’s a heavy glue-ish scent to them. It’s only a problem for about a day or so, give ‘em some time to air out and you’re golden. Wearing them for the first time, the soles, which are cork-made, feel heavy and so I’m a bit awkward walking in them. I tried lacing the straps around my calves, but they didn’t like to stay up for too long (it’s not the desired look I want, so I’m perfectly ok with that). I prefer the organized chaos of having the straps wrapped around my ankles.
If you go out in them, prepare to be stared at haha. I’m a pretty tall gal, so wearing these I kind-of tower at the 6 foot mark. I had these on at Thanksgiving around my family and all I heard was: “Why are you wearing those? Aren’t you tall enough already?!” and “Where did you get those things?!”.
Anyway, I’m really glad to finally get a pair of these. They’re pretty good quality for Bodyline and I got them at a great price (only $1 shipping!). A word of caution, though, this style tends to run just the tiniest bit small, so if you’re considering getting a pair, you might want to get a half size bigger than your usual.
I’m going to have another shoe review very soon, so please look forward to it!^^
I just finished making this skirt for an upcoming x-mas loli meet up. Isn’t it cute :3 I’m conflicted on if I should attach the bow or not, though…
Bodyline is having a major discount on shipping this month. Air mail shipping is now only $1 through the end of November! Now’s the perfect time to stock up on inexpensively cute skirts and things!
An article on Lolita on CNN. -
This is actually really accurate. CNN does their homework.
I also like how reading through the comments is an accurate picture of how closed-minded people can be and what it is sometimes like to go out wearing Lolita.
